‘R U OK?’ day.
R U OK day is a day of movement which aims to prevent suicide by encouraging everyone to connect with someone they care about and help stop little problems turning into big ones.
A simple question can make a world of difference, so take a little time out to see if a friend or loved one is doing ok, it could save a life, or at least bring a smile.
Manifest
Manifest, one of Melbourne’s biggest Anime and pop-culture conventions was on again this year. Carnival and Kraden attended under their usual monkier of “Team Bacon Power”. Interestingly that name is starting to be recognised as the furry table at Manifest.
So thank you to everyone that came by and said hello to us! Picked up something, or even coming and listening to the show after grabbing a business card.
We appreciate the support!
Also, Xandahar brought us Bacon Pie and therefore rocks the proverbial socks.
*And thanx MelMel for the ‘Looooooon~!

Two zoo chimps have been set up on a blind date. (thanks Xandahar)
It turns out that, like humans, chimps become very sad when they are alone.
So a zookeepers in Santiago set up their sad female chimp with a young male rejected from his group in Buenos Aires.
How did it end? heck out the full story here!
Dog trained to sniff out Cancer. (Thanks Xandahar again)
Straight from Big Pond News;
“German dog trainer Uwe Friedrich can rely on his German shepherd’s nose to detect lung cancer from a sample of a person’s breath.
Friedrich has trained several dogs to detect the disease through positive reinforcements. The dogs are trained to lie down when they detect a cancer sample, and are given a treat in return.”
“These sniffer dogs are able to detect the cancer despite the presence and combination of other odours. Chest surgeon Enole Boedeker says it has a hit rate of 72 per cent – compared to electronic noses, dogs are a huge advantage.”
“The electronic noses are extremely sensitive to influences like diet, like what the people drank, if they drank alcohol, or if they smokes cigarettes,’ Boedeker said. ‘And the dogs just don’t bother.
While there have been other studies conducted using sniffer dogs, such as in bladder and colon cancers, as well as diabetes, more work needs to be down before dogs become part of a clinical work-up.”

German Police are phasing out the German Shepard (From Keio S)
The Germal Police are phasing out the iconic German Shepard in favour of the much hardier Belgian Shepard, in favour of avoiding the genetic defects in pure breeds Shepards.
PANDAS WILL POWER THE EARTH! (From Fuzzi)
With their poop.
Scientists have been studying the…leavings of Pandas and have found that the microbes in the Pandas stomachs are incredibl;y good at breaking down all sorts of plant material, not just Bamboo. This finding could lead the way to better, broader bio-fuels without the need for artificial breakdowns in the process.
So the next time you see a panda sitting there just eating Bamboo, they’re not just eating, they’re also living research facilities for new ways to save the planet!
