Antheria Conevtion: Anthropolis the Ancient City

Antheria is an up-coming Anthropomorphic convention held in Redondo Beach California, from the 30 of Sep to 2 of Oct. This years theme is the Egyptian Underworld, which as far as awesome themes has the possibility of rocking your proverbial mummified socks (you should really wash those if that’s the case).

Special Guests & Events:
With Guest of honour Mike Kazaleh! Long time comic-industry mega-credit Mr. Kazaleh has contributed his artistic flair from Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles to Futurama, Mightymouse to the Simpsons. Also Uncle Kages will be making his only West Coast apperance, and perfoamances by 2 Gryphon, Variety shows and more.

And For those willing to pop in and have a ‘Pharoah Membership’(Super Sponsorship) there is the Pharoah’s Bridge on the Nile river cruise on a custom Yacht\Baot\GONDOLA OF THE GODS!

Carnival & Kraden will be at Manifest next week! *Now confirmed into spot H2!
Carnival will be trading all sorts of nick-nacks as well as doing table commissions. Kraden will be there for Sales Assistance Support, to make the talky-talky socializing and general booth babe-ery.

Jeneara will not be attending, but you can look at her stuff at Miss Pixies booth.
Miss Pixie sells glow in the dark ears, drinking cuffs, giant microbes and loads of other cute bits we occasionally mention!

Manifest is one of Australias biggest Anime and Pop Culture conventions.
Starting up as a small fundraiser BBQ event in 1998, Manifest outgrew it’s Melbourne University venue in 2009 now attracts near 8000 attendants to it’s new location at the Melbourne Showgrounds!

This years 2011 convention is held from the 26th-28th of August.

The finding, from an African study of about 500 lion attacks on Tanzanian villagers between 1988 and 2009, could explain the full moon’s frequent appearance in folklore as a harbinger of evil or disaster, The Times reported.

Nyan Cat or ‘pop tart’ cat: -Created by PRGuitarman and posted @ his LOL-COMICS webpage on April 2nd, 2011. It wasn’t until April 5th, that YouTuber user saraj00n posted a video titled ‘Nyan Cat’, using comic artist prguitarman’s Pop Tart Cat animation set to the well-known Japanese Vocaloid song Nyanyanyanyanyanyanya by Japanese artist Daniwell-P looping, to create the massive chain popularity explosion.

Ceiling Cat: -Ceilingcat, uploaded on FunnyJunk as Stalker Kitty. Later grabbed by 4chan in 2006 with the caption “Ceiling cat is watching you masturbate”

Monorail Cat: -One of the earliest pictures of monorail cat found is from the website catmas.com’s blog section, dated from November 2, 2006. The picture is of a cat flopped over a metal-framed mirror, which makes the cat look like a monorail.

Happy Cat: -The original image was from a Russian website for the cat food brand “Happy Cat”, now out of business. Discovered in 2003 by Something Awful, Happycat was revived in 2005 by YTMND, and now is never used, except perhaps on Caturday.

In 2007, a caption was placed on Happycat, “I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER”, and shortly after, I Can Has Cheezburger, a blog for captioned cats, was created. This site proved extremely popular, and was sold in September, 2007 for $2,000,000.00, proving once again that the internet loves cats.

LolCats: -Typically, a ‘lolcat’ image refers to the combining a cat photograph with text intended to contribute humour. The text is often idiosyncratic and grammatically incorrect, and its use in this way is known as “lolspeak” or “kitty pidgin”.

On November 16, 2005, Caturday blog, a Blogspot blog, appeared.
On July 15, 2006, an entry for “caterday” was made in Urban Dictionary. By October, 2006, an entry with the correct spelling appeared.
On September 3, 2006, Caturday, a LiveJournal community, was set up.

Longcat: -Longcat, being of the first cat memes, was first posted on 2ch by a Japanese man. Longcat’s real name is Shiroi, which is Japanese for “white”. “She” is adorable and regardless of Shiroi’s real life gender, Longcat will almost always be referred to as male.
