Alas the Season’s end has come upon us as we stand upon the pier of the internet, watching the year float out to sea like an over-bloated rusty cruise ship. You bags are packed with knowledge, prizes and an emergency supply of bacon. We bid you adieu, tiny tear stained hanky waving gracefully from our fingertips. But we send you off in good spirits, knowing we’ll meet again in the New Year. Thanks for joining us for season 2!

Last Epsidoe of Season 2

All good things must come to an end. Thankfully it’s just season 2 of ActFur and we’ll be back in 2011 for more shenanigans.

We’ll still be recording our post-MiDfur Christmas special as usual. It’s going to be a super laid-back possibly slightly inebriated talkey time

So for this episode we draw our End-of-Season competition winners.

The Runner up of the EOS will receive an ActFur swag pack with prints, keychains and assorted goodies.

Sky High Bet leaves Branson serving.

Richard Branson, owner of Virgin airlines is a billionaire. And billionaires get bored. And when billionaires get bored, they tend to bet each other to alleviate the boredom of being rich and successful. in this particular case Richard Branson bet the owner of Air Asia that his racing team (yes they even own their own racing teams!) would win.

Turns out he lost, and as per the stipulations of the bet the looser had to work as a flight attendant for a day (including shaving their legs).

GIANT…FRIGGIN…CROCODILE!!

A Pastor in Normanton, Queensland, says he has evidence that an 8m croc lurks in a river in Queensland’s Gulf country.

Pastor Elton Thompson said he took pictures of slide marks from the crocodile last Wednesday on the Norman River at Normanton.

“I haven’t actually seen the crocodile but it was the slide marks that was left behind,” Pastor Thompson said.

Aparently there used to be some croco-megafauna lurking in the area many years ago….perhaps it’s not dead!

Giant gamma Ray bubbles

There is a chance that some time in the recent past a supermassive black hole erupted inside our galaxy.

Scientists in the US this morning announced that they have found two huge bubbles of radiation in the centre of the Milky Way, possibly created by a black hole eruption just a few million years ago.

The two mysterious bubbles of gamma-ray each span 25,000 light years, and were discovered using NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope and data from Fermi’s Large Area Telescope.

The incandescent structure, shaped like a dumbbell or perhaps a very large peanut, extend north and south of the galaxy’s plane. In the same place there is a supermassive black hole that weighs around 4 million times more than the sun.

Furaffinity bans adult cub art \ loli

Furaffiinity has been forced to ban adult-cub artworks from it’s site, the reason being that without doing so their back-end revenue would collapse. Read below.

Right now we have to make a choice. Do we continue on with cub artwork and protect the artwork in the name of freedom of speech? Or do we remove the one Achilles heel that has proven itself to be a liability and a frustration?

If we want to keep Fur Affinity alive we have no choice but to remove cub art.

Artists have 21 days before administrators begin removing such content from their accounts. Non-adult artwork will not be affected, nor will “chibi”, “cutsey”, or “stylized” characters.

Site administrator Dragoneer noted that no artist will be punished for the presence of existing artwork, and warned that harassment of artists will result in a three-month ban. Both Dragoneer and Pinkuh recommended SoFurry and Inkbunny as alternative hosts.

Furnation back online

Troubled furry portal FurNation has come back online, following a campaign to save it from huge operating debts.

A statement was sent yesterday to FurNation members stating:

We have worked out an agreement that will allow FN to stay online. The service is being transfered to the Furry Community as a whole, and will be run and operated as a group effort with voting for the CEO and board of directors like any convention or small public business would be run. Basically, this will be the first web service to be fully owned and operated by the fandom! We will have more details this week as we work out all the plans and create the TOS and Charter for the new FurNation! Please stay tuned.
