What We Do

We’re here to have fun and hope we don’t create something so terrifying it could curdle a cow… so far we seem unsuccessful. Cows were curdled, livestock were horrified, farmers were really mystified. That being said, ACTfur is a group of friends who decided to create a radio show for your enjoyment. Originally it was a hobby, now it’s become a part of our lives. With a listener base increasing exponentially, a knack for entertaining banter and a keen eye on quality we’re trying to bring the internet an engaging anthro themed podcast that anyone can listen to.

The Anthro fandom (Anthropomorphic if you have a thing for syllables), is an overset of the furry fandom. Basically friends or complete strangers create themselves an avatar or character to represent themselves online. Since we’ve all got cameras we usually decide to create a character that’s not human. Most of these characters are based on animals\marsupials (thus the ‘furry’ nickname). It’s through these characters that we all met.

However this podcast is about the world around us, getting our (and your) ideas out there, and most of all being entertaining. We’re an online talk show with an anthro twist. So expect some feedback on local conventions and events, letters from people in and out of fandoms, extensive use of nicknames and the occasional deep topic on the world around us.

We’re here to give you a voice;
We’re here to say something important;
But most of all we’re here to have a good time.

(Alright I lied, we’re actually here to eat bacon in place of Cheetos and laze around on the couch pretending we’re working).

How We Started

Back in 2008, kraden & jeneara made the decision to give Podcasting a crack. But they needed something more, a storyteller, a creator of great and magnificent stories! So they called kell, a friend of theirs with galactic skills and an impressive beard. Dubbed Season 0.5, the first six months of ACTfur were bumpy at best, destructively shaky at worst. Equipment was old and shabby, none of us had any practice and for the most part we just pulled hairs out in frustration, but it was fun and we learnt a lot.

Kell however could not stay as he was moving to the land of the free and the home of the brave. So Kraden and Jeneara had to find a new co-host. They hardly had to blink before carnival slammed into their foreheads like a wet piece of meat. A good friend, Carnival has the energy and pleasant wit to smooth over almost all the heavy bumps, and enough of an eye for quality to whip the other hosts into something resembling a decent podcast. Together they started season 1. With Kell now sending in segments as an overseas host. We were also joined by rayliehm & fenris-the-red-wolf sending in segments both intriguing and humorous.

Now, after a lot of success and even more learning, season two has arrived. With two new residents in season 3, tinycat sending in ‘TinyCat’s Gaming breakdown’, and fuzzibear on Web-Coding detail, we’ve have a full team jam-packed with ideas and enough hot air to fly a zeppelin.

But it’s all in good fun, and we’ve got a hell of a year planned for you all this time!
